Businesses that meet minimum criteria may be eligible for incentives from the City of Dayton or the Dayton Community Development Corporation. Incentives may include:

  • Real Property Tax Abatements
  • Personal Property Tax Abatements
  • Cash Grants
  • Sales Tax Rebates
  • Expedited Permitting
  • Reduced Permitting Fees

In order to qualify for any of these incentives, businesses must complete an application and submit it for review for the Incentive Review Committee, who will score the project and make recommendations for incentive agreements, which will need approval from the Dayton Community Development Corporation Board of Directors and the Dayton City Council.

Businesses who apply for incentives from Dayton may be eligible for additional incentives from Liberty County.

Dayton Grant Programs

Businesses or projects that do not qualify for incentives are encouraged to apply for grants from the Dayton Community Development Corporation for the following programs.

Dayton Downtown Improvement Grant Program

The purpose of this grant program is to assist with the growth and revitalization of the Downtown District in Dayton by promoting new development, business expansion, and renovation of existing buildings/businesses in accordance with the Unified Development Code (UDC), Building Code, or ADA Regulations.

Eligible grant activities include facade improvements and/or interior renovations, Signage, parking lot improvements, and landscaping projects are eligible activities as part of larger projects.

Grant funds are provided on a 50-50 match basis and shall not exceed $25,000.

Dayton Downtown Improvement Grant Program & Application

Dayton Small Business Grant Program

The purpose of this grant program is to assist with the growth and revitalization of the Downtown District in Dayton by promoting new development, business expansion, and renovation of existing buildings/businesses in accordance with the Unified Development Code (UDC), Building Code, or ADA Regulations.

Eligible grant activities include facade improvements, tenant build-out, and/or interior renovations, Signage, parking lot improvements, and landscaping projects are eligible activities as part of larger projects.

Grant funds are provided on a 50-50 match basis, and shall not exceed $7,500 for exterior projects and $7,500 for interior projects. Applicants can apply for both exterior and interior projects.

Dayton Small Business Grant Program & Application

Dayton Mural Grant Program

The purpose of this grant program is to assist with the growth and revitalization of the Downtown District by promoting the installation of murals in the Downtown core.

Grant funds shall be provided for up to 100% of the cost of the mural, including materials and labor, up to $5,000 per mural.

Dayton Mural Grant Program & Application

Dayton Driveway & Cross Connection Improvement Grant Program

The purpose of this grant program is to assist with improving traffic flow and safety along major roadways in Dayton. Grants shall be used to improve driveways and cross connection access between businesses in accordance with both the City of Dayton and TX DOT standards.

Eligible Roadways are Highway 90, Main Street, Winfree/FM 1409, Cleveland Street, Sterling Avenue, Clayton Street.

Grant funds are available for driveway improvements, driveway closure, driveway size reduction, and cross connection improvements, with funding depending on project type and improvements to traffic safety or flow.
